Friend of mine had the same experience. She couldn’t wait to discover who her “real parents” were. Turned out they were both alcoholics, and once contact was made, they were always trying to borrow money etc. Guess life isn’t always like a TV movie…more like a soap opera.
(Sorry, it posted before I was ready). I always wondered how her adoptive parents felt, having spent their lives loving and caring for her, only to have her turn away in her search for the others. To me, the ones who gave her their hearts and home were her “real parents,” but of course I’ve never been in those particular shoes.
Snoopy belongs to Charlie Brown and the gang. But later on, he’ll be reunited with Spike, Olaf, Andy, Marbles, and Belle.(Did I leave any beagle out?).
♫☺♫☺We are family! Brothers and sisters are we!♫☺♫☺
Schulz himself admitted that he had to really struggle to prevent Snoopy from taking over the strip. During the period of this particular strip, 1965, Snoopy hadn’t quite retreated as much into his own imagination. I think precluding this reunion was a method of control for Schulz, keeping the strip about the children rather than the dog.

How does one take a cute strip about Snoopy’s family reunion and make it political?

I agree that sometimes anticipation exceeds the event. Felt that way after my first prostate exam.

You are both blessed to have been adopted out.

I’m surprised that Schulz didn’t do a strip with a half dozen or so of beagles with Snoopy thinking “Now what?”

Doesn’t it always. :-(

@aaf709, some time later he did just that, had Snoopy make a visit somewhere where there were a lot of beagles and the panel was full of Snoopys…
