One of the classic poems you can’t recite in public anymore because the language has changed.Well you can, but declaiming the owl’s love song can lead to some serious misunderstandings.
Ah yes, one of my favorite poems. I love the last verse:“So they dined on mince and slices of quince,Which they ate with a runcible spoon. And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,They danced by the light of the moon, the moon,They danced by the light of the moon.”
Cat’s in the Cradle started going through my head as soon as I saw this. What a lovely drawing. I agree, I too would love to have a framed print of this on my wall. :) One of my favourite stories as well.
In case anyone would like to know, a “runcible spoon” is a spoon with slots in, so that you can scoop things out of liquid and drain them. My head’s full of stuff like that. Useful stuff, like phone numbers and people’s names, falls out.

It’s “Barbra,” and she’s the feline in the boat, of course. It’s a little hard to tell because you can’t see the pink handprints very well.
