What a great group portrait in that extended panel 2! But what brings B.O. Plenty and Gravel Gertie to the big city MCU (I take it this is not just a social visit to Mr. Bracy)?
I hate to nitpick, but that’s not how the joke goes! “I was one of 8 boys. My pappy took us west in…” 5/4/1946
“Well, you see I was one of 8 boys. My pappy took us west in ’89. We…” 7/11/1946
“You see, I was one of 8 boys. My pappy took us west from Ohio in ’93…” 8/3/1946 (the year they go west is unimportant, this has been a constant change since the joke started)
“Well, as fer me, I was one of 8 boys. My pappy took us west in…” 8/14/1946
Well before we leave yesterday . . . .It seem’s Sam’s a NEW MAN, even kicking the long held nicotine habit ?.Looks like he want’s to Doubleup on the ‘music’ and even useing the Bribery flower technique ?But hold on. Hold on !Is that wife Marge coming from behind to – " catchem "?http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/ItXKGyO6cRA?rel=0
That’s definitely Lil Attitude, Gertie’s holding in the blanket..For some reason, I always imagine B.O.’s voice to sound like Mr. Haney from Green Acres
Panel 1 Been noting the effective way Joe Staton has of presenting Tracy while in the office. Relaxed, coat off, showing two guns in holsters under the arms, tie down and arm sleeves " rolled up ". Very macho looking !Not onlike Obama’s working man’s sleeve up appearance - when out on the political stump. But sorry. Tracy’s looks authentic, I’d say, even impressive. The other ONE just looks - – - well, sadlycontrived !
One of the most the most infamous outlaws of the Old West, John Wesley Hardin, was noted for his double chest holster. He also was noted for being one of the fastest gunmen.
We may not like but Tracy may have learned something from him.
Gotta agree, Tracy is much more authentic than you know who. I also agree that Ken Curtis would have made a great B.O. He was a comedic character but could also be sincerely serious when he had to be on Gunsmoke. A fine, versatile actor he was.
Nice that the story loops back to the Plenty family! Hopefully those biscuits have been coming out a lot tastier. And lil ’Tude – what a great character hook for us readers!

Good morning all…
Will we get to see the Plenty baby? He’s probably grown up now.

This is one of those times I wish that the Complete Dick Tracy books had an index like the Complete Peanuts books do.

I guess BO has moved on to another part of his story. I wonder if we’ll ever see Ms Steffihawk. Could she be the department mole?

Well, I doubt we will mark too many birthdays, as we don’t want to age Honeymoon or several other of the characters.
