Back when I was a kid half a century ago, Mom let our Norwegian Elkhound in the back door. He took three bounds across the living room, jumped up on the hassock and landed in my Dad’s lap — crushing the paper he was reading in the process! To this day, I can still remember the OOOF! that Dad let out as he landed!!
I like having my collies laying next to me as I watch TV or read. Sometimes all 3 want to sit next to me, but there’s only room for one. They have to take turns. Sometimes the youngest one will give the other dog the evil eye until they get off the couch so she can get next to me.

There is a dog show judge named Fred Bassett who judges various breeds, including bassetts. I have shown my collies under him.
