To me, anyone who bows down in front of statues is worshipping idols.

The catholics avoid the issue by having a different set of commandments. For protestants the question seems to be what constitutes “graven”. Or you can be like Frogman and decide what is in other peoples minds all on your own.

Some of these limitations were removed in the New Testament. If you read the list of forbidden food animals in the Old Testament, note that practically all are scavengers, ie will eat dead other animals. As for “idols” the images themselves are not worshipped, but the saints they represent. Ie, no one worships a statue of Lincoln, but the man it represents is respected.

The first commandment is responsible for causing the religious warfare and hate that exists to this day. (Muslims vs Jews vs Christians, etc.) Gandhi said: (Paraphrasing) “All religions are true and all religions have some error”.

I’m a Born Again Christian. I try to avoid pork or anything from a swine. And I believe the two first commandments that we are to put God first and worship no graven images. God bless you all.
