It’s more than just toe the line for Faux News. You have to believe in, embrace and promote their ideology!

In other words, throw out your conscience and your ethics and you fit right in!

If I am to name a least favorite Doonesbury character, Roland wins in a walk. To me, just about everything about this unashamed hack is repulsive. (GT would probably think, “Mission Accomplished” if he read this post.)

As Samuel Johnson said, patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Remember this when we see every politician desperately don his/her flag pin. Don’t forget that A.B.C. harassed President Obama for not wearing a flag pin when he was running in 2008.Suspect all those who proclaim their patriotism: They probably don’t love their country nearly so much as they say.

I take exception to Roland’s inference that objecting to the war in Afghanistan, or admitting we’re fighting a losing battle is unpatriotic. We can never win a fight when we can’t distinguish between friend and foe.__________________________________

It amazes me that there were so many negative comments about Fox News today. It’s comforting to know that I am not alone.

I wonder if GuardSGT and IMA are husband and wife. Their postings are so far, far right that not even common sense can infiltrate the brain they share.

We might lose in Afghanistan, but it’s because of the liberal fools in Washington. Same reason we lost in Viet Nam.

I’m beginning to figure out the tighties/wrongwingers. They LIKE myth, and they make their own. They lie and exaggerate like Mike Fink and Daniel Boone…“Half turtle, half-alligator, half-kicking mule…” which is not just American, but it’s happening NOW, and while it’s entertaining to THEM, from over here on the other side, it’s’denying reality…’

Yeah, I"m getting a handle…a shovel handle…on the cons…hot, steaming, and useless for the future but an excellent example of the skills of the past…combined with the techniques and methods of today…I give you the neo-confederates, today’s Republican party. The lower end of their costume is the poorer blue collar who hate anybody non-white, and the higher end is the richies who can’t stand anybody becoming a success, especially politically successful…in ONE generation…like that’s why Starr of the richie establishment tried to hang Clinton out in the wind, he was trailer trash who had made it in one generation, while he, STarr, with four hundred years of East Coast money and family was parked as a federal judge. And then there’s Koch and a few VERY rich puppeteers jerking the clowns in the costumes around…they GIVE the costume party and collect and keep the money the party raises thru legislation, etc.

And then there are thehired mythmakers, Limpy the sneering clown, the voice of them all, playing all the parts of a free-ass-Oh-see-aaaa-shun epic drama, an ego so big he tries to speak ALL the parts…unfortunately it’s all a melodrama, but, hey, he’s trying.

    Very trying.(*)

Our reality-challenged costume-wearing Republican party, deliberately making the America Pie smaller by downsizing and shipping jobs overseas, and fighting with citizens’ expectations…they made the economy inadequate and yet insist on taking more and more of it…

Funny people,my fellow Americans, dumber than bedrock.

Where do the patriots sit? I’d hit him so hard he’d NEVER wake up, whether he ever became conscious or not. I would break so many of his bones the VA would take him just to study what could happen to ONE newsie and smart biz types would get the metaphor of what would eventually happen to MANY so-called American corporations AND their CEOs and satraps.

Every KID thinks he knows how to talk about the age of four, and only later learns that some people are smarter or wiser or experienced…like older? That’s the cons. Hedley hasn’ t a clue, and like Limbaugh, I am tired of them all. They all need recycling. Soylent Republican Green, yum.

Buzza Wuzza: “bring ’em home.”goweeder: “I’m sure there will be tons of jobs for them.”

Bringing them home is not the same as decommissioning them. In fact, if we closed down most of our bases abroad, we could afford to reopen some back here, and create support jobs for our civilians instead of foreign ones. It’d be a lot cheaper, it would be physically and psychically better for the soldiers (and their families), and we wouldn’t be in such danger of being stretched too thin if we ever REALLY need to mobilize.

And if you’re suggesting that overseas wars are desireable as a solution to unemployment among young men (and women), why don’t you take up arson so your community can hire more firefighters?

Anyone with half a brain should have known that ‘if winning’ in Afghanistan means bringing Western values & culture there, it isn’t going to happen in our lifetimes. And, it isn’t going to accomplished through a military occupation. There was a need to intervene with the Taliban hosting Al-Qaeda, but once that was done, we should have left a diplomatic mission with only small force, secret ops type military there. Not all of the Taliban wanted outsiders using their homes for terrorist training. It would have been a lot cheaper & easier to incorporate those former Taliban into the government ten years ago.

Only a REMF (at most) NG, could spout in defense of his deserter hero “W”, from the same ilk so loud and so often. The speechifying he comes up with just proves he fought our nation’s battles, on the freeways, and in the bars.

Remember when everyone, left and right, believed the cause was just? And we promised that we would not abandon Afghanistan again like we did after the 80’s?

And by the way, Doughfoot: “right-wing patriotism” is more like saying it is WRONG to beat your wife and kids, no matter what culture you live in, and we will fight against any group that promotes it (yes, even the Taliban).
