I think this week’s strip is a commentary on the saga of former Arkansas coach (and former coach of a lot of other teams) Bobby Petrino. For reasons that knowledgeable NFL fans should be aware, the fans and players of the Atlanta Falcons are taking a grim satisfaction with Petrino’s comeuppance.
re: Petrino. I find it hard to believe the AD at Arkansas was surprised by the final outcome. The nature of Petrino’s screwup might have been surprising, but the fact that he broke rules and cheated on his wife? As the saying goes, “You lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.”
