Sometimes Jim is clearly drawing a real person into the strip for whatever reason. I suspect Gertie was originally based on a real person. When an “expert” is brought in to consult on the strip, Jim probably repays them by including them. I remember googling the name of a doctor or veterinarian in the dailies a while back, and finding that she had a practice in North Carolina.
Does anyone else think this is really sad? Cats, especially male, do have a wild side, but it is nothing specifically personal or malicious toward us in the anthropomorphic sense. Hope the new guy is a good cat father and not a puppy-mill owner.
Well, Ours is very athletic but also very sociable and a real love-muffin unless you get him up on his kitty condo. Then he wants to play-fight. Oof, my finger is still smarting. We think that if we were bite-size he’d eat us. But he ignored a mouse.

Wait until Mr. Dennis gets a load of Lucky in action. He’ll want his two cents back.

Yep, I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Lucky. But for now, I’m glad he’s gone.
