Kitty doesn’t want to end up like Heath Ledger did.

The panel is back in color after reverting to black and white for a week or so. I actually enjoy the new color strips.

Kitty doesn’t care which it is, he simply doesn’t want to take a pill and it’s no fun trying to get a cat to take a pill. I remember when the vet gave us this pink stuff to squirt down one of our cat’s throat and the first time went well because she didn’t know what we were doing. After that we had a devil of a time getting her to take it.

Now that we have color I’ve learned something…for years I’ve always thought that Kitty has white fur.

Susan your right about that we had to give our cat medicine and one we could get in the mouth used a towel to gold the cat and the other put in the cat’s dish of food in the middle the cat did get it down. Top it off we didn’t get hurt.

I wonder if Joel and Rufus are the creation of Dick Moores or Jim Scancarelli. In either case Kitty is well over the natural life of a cat. The character has been used well over 20 years now. Rufus may have found many a “replacement” Kitty I’m sure over the years.

The local pharmacist is an animal lover. She grinds up my cat’s pills, and puts them into a bottle using tuna juice as the base liquid. She eats the tuna for lunch, and gives you a syringe with no needle with the medicine. Patches didn’t fight taking her medicine after the first taste!

436rge, Joel and Rufus are the creation of Frank King. There are strips dating back to the 1950s (and possibly the 1940s, if memory serves me) showing Rufus. Unlike most GA characters, he’s one who doesn’t show obvious signs of aging.

Giving medicine to a cat is easy, if you know what you are doing.

Our veterinarian got all of her pills for cats from a veterinary supply company which made all of the pills into capsules which had various fish flavors. I would get a tiny bit of my cat’s favorite dinner (about a thimbleful), open the capsule and sprinkle the medicine onto the tiny “meat ball” and mix it in thoroughly. Once he had slicked up that tiny “meat ball” -he could have the rest of his dinner! That way, I could be sure that he had managed to get ALL of his medicine. Surely Kitty’s vet would have heard about this innovation as well!
