Brutus: Alexander Graham Bell could never have dreamed of all the things we do on our phones today!
Brutus: And imagine what we'd be doing if he never invented the telephone?
Wilberforce: Trying to text using the remote from the TV?
If Alexander G. Bell had not invented and patented the telephone, then Elisha Gray would have his patent approved. In that case Gray would own all the wires, communication satellites and layer 1 Internet services. Bell beat Gray by minutes at the Patent Office. And, by the way, Meucci would be credited with inventing the intercom if he did not give up.
