Geez, no pressure! I think Flask is antagonizing him so he’ll grab the others and get them off the ship before it explodes, so the only ones to die will be her and the Topsiders (and possibly Linda, but I doubt Flask is even remembering her existence right now). The poor girl’s been crying from the moment she set the ship sailing to its demise. I’m assuming that it’s despair (I can’t say it’s relief since the ship senses her conflict, or fear because I don’t think she’s afraid to die at this point).
Also, lol Marx doesn’t seem to worry much about impending doom. Nothing really ever seems to worry that man. He could probably be on fire, himself, and still play Solitaire with his ditto pets.
Get the dittos to sabatage the talky face? I don’t know. I know what I would do. But then I am logical. Does AM read the books? Anything in them he could drag up?Blessed Be.
What I love about Endtown is the bizarre and comic amongst the tragic. Aaron Marx, baffled in the face of impending death, plays cards. Not out of panic and withdrawal, but because by his loopy logic it may help. It’s the juxtaposition of the horrible and inconsequential – desperate but not serious.Endtown has a unique flavour: absurd. There’s no graphic story like it, anywhere.
Flask has Petey pegged. Force him to react with little recourse to measuring his options, and he’ll immediately pick the most obvious one. Again, everything revolves around asking the right question, and only one man on the ship knows what that question is. Flask’s goal is to get the others to leave the ship right away, so they CAN’T try to interfere. As long as the door is locked, Wally can’t get in, and none of them know how to sabotage the engines. Marx’s dittos would probably be hijacked by the ship and Talky Face, so that’s not an option either. There is one very easy solution to all this, but again, it requires asking the right question. Marx isn’t “playing solitaire while Rome burns” because, as they say “there is no Rome”.Three parties know the question: Flask, Marx and the reader.
So AM knew the ship was waiting for a Captain, and he didn’t make it a priority to find the Bridge – instead enjoying a nice meal and some playtime with the gang.
As for the cards, Marx surely has more tricks up his sleeve. Maybe they are some kind of control cards for the ship’s system. Remember that Star Trek NG episode where Data had seconds to replace all those little plastic chips?
I think Petey might be the key to getting Flask to cool her jets, so to speak. He obviously knows her best and once meant something to her…if anyone on board would know which of Flask’s buttons to push it’s Petey.
And I don’t think Marx is playing solitaire with those cards…He’s a screwball, but he’s not stupid. My guess is that he’s not looking at the King of Hearts or the Ace of Spades down there.
Talk about Pressure! A non-emotional robot would not feel it, but our Petey has plenty of feelings! He may come up with just the right thing to say to her.Is Linda Still drunk??
Flask seems to be sending Petey a secret message. She may be the captain, but not in control, like the ship’s captain in Wall-E, at the mercy of the AI. Or Klaatu at the mercy of Gort.“He” is not Petey, it’s the AI. “For all HE knows”, not Petey. It appears she’s telling Petey and Marx to set up a ditto illusion to trick the AI, with those elements as the scenario.Meanwhile, Marx appears to be playing another game of Go Fish. For all HE knows.
i hope AM uses the dittos to show petey and the rest Flasks past maybe that could make petey get his memory back (i really want to know her past !!)if he does he may be able to say something thatll stop flask
or maybe a small part of Flask wants petey and the others to stop her

Petey may be able to fly off the three with him but what about Linda and Petey’s friend the transporter?

Given that this was a ship designed by mercenaries, maybe it can be reprogrammed by waving enough money at it…

So she has to ‘depersonalize’ Petey by calling him just “robot”. What a state she has woprked herself into.

Maybe those cards are dittos giving him different suggestions on what can be done to stop this mess. He would just need to choose one and run with it…
