    …people don’t need them….its an acquired sign of recognition within a small community or club atmosphere..it’s like a “pet name” and hopefully not derogatory…..it doesn’t necessarily work in a larger urban context

    Especially Servicemen and women, Who ever knew the person’s real name. Usually only their lastname, or a nickname. Just sign me Frogger.
