Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for May 22, 2012
Transcript:
Gene: I thought you'd be thrilled if I finished school! Janis: But you made all those other plans! Gene: Well, they haven't been changed! Not exactly! Janis: "Not exactly"? Gene: I'm sorry, Mom! I'm going back for summer session! Janis: Gene, are you sure... Arlo: This is why life enjoys the reputation that it does!

Arlo has been surprisingly calm through Gene’s problems. Good for him.

Janis thinks she will be losing out on the daughter she never had. Maybe is she let’s her some completely explain what’s going on. Especially to find out if Marylou is on board with this or not.

I guess Arlo must have heard the song “Life is a beautiful journey but full of unexpected turns” (note: this is not an English song, but fairly well-known in Hindi, translation of “Zindagi ek safar hai suhaana, Kya haankal kya ho, kisne jaana”)

JJ is doing the tease. keeping folks guessing if Gene and Mary Lou are quits. Janis hasn’t asked the question directly and neither has Arlo. he may have come to see that Gene is an adult and there is not much he can do about his choices. you would think Gene would tell his mom for her peace of mind but that would end the suspense.

Being a Mom…….. seems like it’s harder than being a Dad….

I’m sure it will all flesh out in the next week or so, but if you think of it, he has “1” semester left to graduate, so in theory he’s 11/12ths of the way done—which has (or will need to be) already been paid for. Pretty senseless to just drop that by the wayside. It’s only 90 days. I don’t remember what he was going to school for, but if it was business management or accounting, it would certainly apply to the farm/resort career down the road.

Remember, you can lead a horticulture, but you can’t make her think.

John Baranick, yeah, many modern farmers have degrees. The kids, slowly taking over the family farm, have been to college. They are well educated and knowledgeable about many things. Example: GPS satellites tell their machines where in the field less fertilizer is needed. They have modern offices. In fact, the only difference between farmers and other businessmen, is that farmers work harder! Over all I think they do a better job too.

Posted too early in the morning.I was meaning to say:Janis thinks she will be losing out on the daughter she never had. Maybe she should let her son completely explain what’s going on. Then she will know if Marylou is on board with this or not.But his has been mentioned by others in the comment section.
