it’s an addiction, this hobby of home theater; i’ve spent $4K in the last 6 mos acquiring some goodies, just spent a bundle this morn for a new hsu sub! gonna rock the house!!
I hate the high prices at the concession stand but I found out why several years ago. The theatre is making nothing from the ticket price. The theatres are turning over 90% to 110% (for the blockbusters) of the ticket price to the distributors. Thus, they have to make their money on concessions. Sad but true.
Since the TV will break down permanently about the time that the warranty runs out – and it will take about $2,500 to fix it or another $2,500 to buy another replacement – maybe you SHOULD consider investing in the Concession Stand as well! At least, then, you will have something to show for your investment!
There was a time in my misspent youth, when I was a brat actor. At that time, New York City and Toronto produced some of the best theatrical and thought provoking crime dramas. While CBC didn’t exactly overpay, they did provide an opportunity for many actors to hone their craft in meaningful shows. The same goes for comedy. Most “Americans” haven’t a clue how good Canadian television used to be.
Actually, I worked in drive-ins in 1962, and even then, the money was all made at the concession stand, showing the movies made nothing, it went to the distributor.

With the high prices at concession stands nowadays, Cosmo could make up the cost in less than a month.

Looks like neither one has been too far away from the concession stand for very long.
