I’ve never had a cat that actually ATE the mice they caught. They like to play with the mouse until the mouse died of a heart attack or of being mauled. And if PETA has a case against me, let them take the filthy creatures that chew open food containers to THEIr homes.

As for rats: None has ever entered my apartment, thank heaven, but if one did, I would not allow my cat near it. I would just take my cat and leave the apartment and not know when to return. Could I call 911 if a rat entered my home?

You could call 911. Won’t do any good and probably get you in hot water.

Best to immediately dial “9-1” then wait with your finger on the “1” to see what develops.

Give the cat canned fish, not rat chow, and he’ll eat it. Cats are carnivores, and that canned stuff is full of cereal.

I don’t think I’ll ever get a rat here and my radiator was just mouse-proofed. I had to get catnip to give my cat exersize

As it is, we’re part of the cats caste system and when they lay a dead ‘present’ in our path, it’s only proof that they’ve earned their worth to us. Our farm had ‘barn-cats’ and ‘house-cats’ and both teams pretty well earned their ‘keep’. But that black-snake……he did his share of rat-control, too!!Very scary to a 9-year old !This cat here? Excellent squirrel killer, but I think a bit much, though my attic doesn’t make funny noises in the middle of the night anymore
