Growing up, I encountered many snakes while fishing, picking blackberries or hiking through the woods. I killed them with rocks or a garden hoe where I found them. I felt no regrets. My philosophy was the only good snake is a dead snake.

I came out of the house one day and almost put my hand on a snake that was on the outer door. Talk about being scared I almost did a number in my pants. It was about 3 feet long and it was black.

Good snake. I remember my wife opening a door, almost stepping on a rat snake, and doing a fancy dance to get out of the way.
