Adam: What are you reading? Laura: Oh, it's one of those celebrity rags. Adam: Really? That stuff is junk. Laura: I know. It's good escapism, though. Adam: You want escapism? You should read Robert Heinlein. Laura: I just want something light and ridiculous. Adam: Hmm. You like "light and ridiculous"? Laura: Yep. Adam: And here I'd always thought Laura liked portly and thought-provoking.

Some of them have, um, interesting – yeah, interesting! that’s word – headlines, but I’m always afraid somebody I know will see me buy it.

Heinlein good. Or try some Pratchett.

Back in the 80’s, I bought them as an excuse to see pics of women clad in leotards or swimwear.

The early Heinlein was for kids. His later stuff got a bit racy.

But… “Job” was great. Yes, “The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress” was better than “Cat Who Walked Through Walls.” And I’ve read “The Past Through Tomorrow” at least three times. It’s wonderful.

I just finished a Heinlein book this month: “Stranger in a Strange Land.” Adam, do you really want to inspire your wife to sleep around?

No, no NOOOOO! Are you MAD???? Don’t you remember the Reverend Nehemiah Scudder?!? He took power in 2012!What worries me is that Heinlein might have been right in his predictions.

“course R.A.H. also invented the waterbed. But Sir Arthur invented the communications satellite, so Clarke wins. :)

Heinlein also invented the Waldo in his wonderful book, “Waldo and Magic, Inc.”

Heinlein is the Dean of Science Fiction because his books are all over the map. They run the gamut from wildly liberal to ultra conservative. He wrote some of the best hard science fiction, but also went as far as time-traveling pedophilia and blowing up aliens. You never know what you’re going to get from him. Whatever it is, it’s always thought provoking. More of his books should be made into movies… or maybe not, as so many movie adaptions are horrible.
