“Disaster Finds Us All.” The picture is on the greatwar.nl site, but the only information they have is that it’s a French soldier from WW I.

Now that I’ve seen the blog, I’ll add “Falafels have a reverse gear?” For when the correction appears.

Falafels should always be backed up, as they have a notorious reputation for crashing at the worst times.

A falafel for every man, woman and child, I say! A friend of mine worked for Oscar Meyer for the summer making hot dogs and lost his fingerprints. They came back six months later.

“Ceiling prices” and “ration points” have to do with rationing in America during WW II. The OPA (Office of Price Administration) set prices on many goods, to prevent inflation. Vendors had a limited range in which to set prices, and the ceiling price was the highest price the OPA allowed. Ration points were the number of ration stamps you had to present in order to buy something. Consumers were issued different types of stamps for different types of merchandise—food and clothing, for example. This helped prevent hoarding and made a fair share available for everyone.

(It was inconvenient and not always fair, and it beat the hell out of living in Axis-occupied territories.)

Hey, the corrected strip in finally up. Honestly, I didn’t notice that the word falafel was misspelled in the first place.
