    Isn’t it spelled “poncho”? Rain poncho, Pancho Villa. Two spellings with two different meanings.

    Ordinarily, yes. However, “pancho” is the most frequently attested misspelling of the word and tends to show up whenever people assume that the word comes from Spanish — which, in fact, it does — and spell it in the way that makes the most sense given that etymology, without checking.

    Okay I lied. My parents and I went for Thai for my birthday dinner; there is a Vietnamese eatery kind of near my place, but not near my parents’ place.
