I don’t think it has been previously revealed, but OF COURSE Grog can read. The same can be said for the rest of the cast, with the probable exception of the critters like Turtle and the Eat-Anter. But being pre-historic, at least they didn’t have to sit through History Class.

Corpses have been know to “sit up”. Male corpses have also been know to be “stiff” in more ways than one.
