In the US, the fed gov. assumes it’s 15% of the pre-tax bill if a lower amount is reported they will bump it up and tax their wages assuming 15%. So when an older college of my husband’s said he tips 10-15% I told him then he must really dislike all of his servers to short them pay like that. He was schocked to find out that servers min wage is $2.13.

I agree that 18-20% is right, 10% was a long time ago. They live on their tips and don’t make minimum wage.

I think it depends where you are! In the UK it’s still around 10%.
