Why would a parent say “no gifts”? I’ve never heard of or done such.

That’s not fair, getting a gift is part of the fun when it comes to birthdays.

My grandkids get gifts from Mom and Dad, and us Grandma’s and Grandpa’s but the birthday party kids bring gifts that are given to other needy kids. They are very happy to do it, and are anxious to even pick out a few of their own for the donation pile. It’s a great way to teach them about giving to others I think.

I’ve heard of this, and I’ve also heard of what BJIllistrated talks about where the gifts are donated. Personally, I would love to do it because we have unwrapped toys from last year that are just sitting around my house. I’m ready to donate them.
