Heaven forbid today’s parents actually ask their kids to do something to help out. When I was Katy’s age I would have been thrilled for a party and happy to help clean up after what my parents did for me. Your comment is just another example of how our child-centric culture creates dependent, entitled adults.

I’m with Lyle. Helping to clean up after your parents throw you a big party is not a big deal. And I haven’t seen the Newman kids doing a bunch of “chores” so it’s not like they’re asked to contribute much to the household.

I don’t see a problem with her doing some cleaning. I’m sure the parents will do the heavy cleaning and dirty work. Kids should do what they can to contribute. It’s not like he’s asking her to get on her hands and knees and scrub the floor.

Wow. The exact three adjectives I use when describing how proud I am of my kid. My favorite kind of people.

None of this has anything to do with this comic strip, directly. The point is: she was tricked into doing the right thing…:)
