What are the tissues for? To mop up after Alex pees herself in excitement?

If your job doesn’t exist you don’t have a job. The cowards way of firing you.

I suppose Alex is being professional – but seems to be enjoying the job a bit too much…

In the UK it’s called “redundancy” and you get compensation, by law. We’re just a bunch of lefties really …

I agree that while being fired and having your position disappear seem to be the same, at least you can get unemployment checks and as the other poster said, it looks better on your resume. The federal gov’t does that a lot to civil servants. They create jobs just as easy as take them away without firing people.

Ugh. It’s bad enough she’s being downsized, but the fact that her so-called friend is the one who’s doing it is going to add salt to Betty’s wounds. Here’s hoping Betty will land a job with a company that actually values its workforce, and Alex will find herself eased out of her job once she’s done the dirty work of breaking the news to a bunch of “little people.”

News flash: Alex may be superficial, but she’s not stupid. I’m sure she knows that her job can’t be permanent.
