I think that would be the end of that friendship. Even if there is an ultimate good, and this is a massive tease, it isn’t funny to threaten someone with the loss of their job.
I don’t really condone violence, but my first gut reaction was yours…….the person firing you can at least put on a sympathetic face and pretend to commiserate with her plight, especially an EX-friend. Alex’s attempt to put a positive spin on a disastrous situation seems to mock Betty
What a sad strip this has become… friends turning on friends..but guess even cartoonist this is the Americanway..one job and one friendship shot to hatties…….
The ironic thing is that Alex will act as if nothing happened and will be surprised that Betty does not want anything to do with her. And I wouldn’t blame Betty one iota.
I find it ironic that Betty is getting a choice: stay for the next 3 months and then REAPPLY to the company for another job. Why can’t she transfer NOW to another department? And yes, soon as Alex is done being the hatchet, she’ll be next.
If my best friend did that to me, without finding a way to find me another position, preferably at a high pay grade, that would be the end of the friendship. If this is how her job ends, with unemployment, then Alex is just a self-centered C-word… That is, if this was real and stuff… lol

Are you sure Betty doesn’t work for Blue Cross?

Alex’s job will not exist either too. Their friendship will endure eventually. Alex lacks emotional intelligence that’s all.

I see.

This gets weirder and weirder. Still, I hope Betty finds a really good job elsewhere.
