Dr. Toon, people almost always take out their frustration on the person who has given them the bad news. After 40 years of working with the public in both retail and public service, I can assure you this is all too normal. Frankly, I thought Ben was rather polite. Many customers would have screamed at the clerk and stormed off muttering.

BLAH BLAH…prices go up but amount of items get smaller. We the public are not stupid!!!

That is so true. But on the other hand, who else is the customer going to have to grumble at?

or the store is trying to make more money and is giving that excuse so they can make more money.
