The shape the father is in says he doesn’t eat much of the food he grows. Unless he is planting a bacon tree.
the best way to learn is from the ground up! and remember, don’t let the “pies” squish thru your toes when you inadvertently step on one! they’ve got to rot a bit before you toss them in the garden to kill all the seeds inside!
Don’t forget; dried ‘pasture pies’ make good bases for softball when someone’s got a ball and bat handy.
