Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for June 29, 2012
Transcript:
Rip: You duped me into marrying you, Cobra?! Cobra: Rip, honey, I love you. But without the promise of extreme danger, we all know you'd be too afraid to commit! McLuvyah: Some of the best marriages have a strong backbone of deceit, Rip! It's all in my book "lying to love"! Cobra: And just think of how much money we'll save on insurance. Rip: Well, I guess as man and wife we will be able to blow up twice the stuff at half the cost! Ka-twirl! Cobra: That's the romantic guy I fell for.

I am never very enthused about an action hero getting married (read what Raymond Chandler wrote about it), but I can live with this. I like Cobra. She is my type of woman.

Save on insurance? Not after yesterday’s decision.

I guess this is the end of Rip Haywire. As we know from television, when the lead couple marry, the sexual tension is over and the series is cancelled.

Oh, please; with all the crazy adventure plots and zaniness Rip and Cobra deal with every day, they won’t have time to be bored and complacent! Go watch the THIN MAN movies; did Nick and Nora get complacent and dull after 6 years of movie marriage? Heck, no! Anyway, I agree with Kydex: “Most people who believe marriage ends sexual tension have never been happily married!” I’m confident that Our Man Thompson will see to it that Team Haywire never has a dull moment, even if for some reason they wanted one! :-)

… is only kind of true that marrying off the main characters ends the show … an alternate theory is that the show already jumped the shark, and marrying them off is a last ditch effort to bring life back into the ratings … that rarely, if ever, works …

“Duped into marriage,” he says.As I recall, it was Rip who “went to Jared” for an engagement ring.
