Thanks for posting that Ron. I’ve been trying to remember how that goes. All I could remember was the ‘cold’ part, but I knew there was more. It’s a good way to explain evil to Jr High kids.
For the littler ones, Free Will works as a good explanation.
Just yesterday, as we were watching a movie about Noah and the Flood, one little guy (just finished first grade) was a bit upset that everyone who wasn’t on the Ark died. I explained that those people didn’t believe what God said, they were given a chance to believe, but chose not to. He wondered God gave those people a second chance. The other kids (kindergarten through 3rd grade) said God probably gave them lots of chances, but they chose not to believe. “That’s free will.” said one of the 3rd graders What really impressed me with the group was the way they didn’t laugh at the kid who was concerned about the people who died. And the way they all (including the adult lady who functions on about a 5 year old level) understood that it is CHOICES that make the difference. Noah chose to believe and follow God, the others didn’t.

We live in a Fallen World. Prior to Adam and Eve sinning against God there was no evil.
