Petey, where's your book? Petey: I put it back. It's derivative, watered down tolking. Mom: Okay, Petey. Alice: I;m getting the Big Pop-up book of Giant Squids! See? Petey: GAAAH!

I may be out of high school since 2003, but I need to work on my read: H.G. Wells’ “Time Machine” followed by his “Invisible Man” (it’s a one-volume book with both stories; bought it about a year ago from Barnes and Noble).

Sounds like a postcard by Donald Fraser Gould McGill. One of his postcards, featuring a bookish man and an embarrassed pretty woman sitting under a tree, with the caption: “Do you like Kipling?” / “I don’t know, you naughty boy, I’ve never kippled!”, holds the world record for selling the most copies, at over 6 million.

Hey, Alice! Did you get that book from Lio? (Giant squids are very much the in thing just now. Besides the ever-loving Ishy at Lio, today a giant squid also features at Scary Gary)

Ok, when the reruns first started, I was fine with it. on the second week, I was frustrated. On the third week, I nearly went insane. But now, I’m just worried. is Richard okay?

This has always been one of my favorites. Poor Petey is going to spend the next month in his room getting over being traumatized by Alice’s squid.

Yes, poor Petey. It’s no wonder he is the way he is.

“Okay Petey.”. Mom is so tolerant. Thank goodness for that as otherwise those two could raise her blood pressure.

I should think that Petey would have heard of Tolkien. However, my Asperger’s relative has lots of blind spots. (He has read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings books, though.)As for what is going on with Richard Thompson, the latest post on his blog was on July 11:http://richardspooralmanac.blogspot.com/

I did go to Richard’s blog, and I guess his power was out for days in that storm, as was my cousin’s. But I still worry about him. He’s a BRAVE MAN!

Tolking. That’s a play on a very old joke that appeared on a turn of the century greeting card. It was once cited as the funniest card ever by Guinness. A couple on a Romantic picnic…buttoned down gent with a beautiful, playful young lady. He’s reading poety to her and asks her, “Do you like Kipling”. She replied, “Tee hee, I don’t know you naughty boy…I’ve never Kippled.”

BTW, this in no way strikes me as a rip off. I’m taking it as borrowing…challenging the reader to make the connection. I hope I’m not the only one who caught it.

I know about his disease. It’s very sad.
