Elly is just mad because she didn’t do it first. If she did, she probably wouldn’t have married John in the end. You really can’t know someone till you live with them a while.
I am in my mid-20s, and unfortunately a lot of my friends have Phil’s attitude. Even worse is when people “live together” for several years, have 2 or 3 kids, and when you bring up marriage they say “we love each other, and we don’t need a piece of paper from the state to prove it!!”…..so sad many don’t value marriage anymore.
Because, Phil, to quote an old Chinese proverb, “What is right is not always popular; what is popular is not always right.” So much for “everybody does it” — first of all, NOT “everybody” does it, and second, if everybody jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff, too?
I wish morals were black and white for everyone, but they’re not. I don’t think you need to live with someone before getting married, because the plumbing is still going to work and IMHO people want the benefits without legal commitment. And I wish people could be married for life and fully committed to each other to work out problems and I just celebrated 23 years of marriage 2 weeks ago. And if wishes were dishes, we’d all have a plate to eat off of.
It always just comes down to individuals. My wife and I lived together for almost a year starting back in 1982 and might as well have been living together for almost a year before that. We’ll hit our 29th anniversary this fall.I’ve always believed that living together won’t tell you that you belong together, but it might tell you that you don’t.
Speak for yourself. There ARE those of us — both men and women — who were raised with the idea of no sex before marriage, and complete and absolute sexual fidelity after marriage, and we’ve done just fine in living up to that standard. Just because YOU couldn’t wait, that doesn’t mean that nobody else can or should..
Dang! I hate coming to the party and missing a troll’s comment. Not that I like their comments, but when everyone else mentions it, I wanna know what was said!
Kinda like being caught in traffic because of an accident, but it being cleared away by the time you get there. I really don’t want to see damage, but I am curious what happened.
To me, NOT living together for at least a year before marriage is idiocy. How are you supposed to know if you can live with this person? If every couple did this, the divorce rates would plummet. I lived with 3 different women for over a year each, and all ended in breakups, and looking back, I’m glad they did. I lived with my current and only wife for 2 years before I popped the question, and we’ve been happily married for 20 years. And just ’cause you live together does not mean you have to have kids out of wedlock. There are many, many ways to avoid this.

You’re being rude, Kranadon and probably borderline vulgar, to boot.

Does anyone know how to turn off the comments for Go Comics? ’Cause I read comics for a little light entertainment.

If Phil was smart, he’d switched to playing harmonica. It’s a lot easier to move when they break up.

Does Elly remind you of Lucy Van Pelt with her big mouth, hands on hips and self-righteous attitude?

They have most of the comics – you can find other comics by googling them and finding their url’s.
