Oh, poor Tracy! How will he get out of this predicament?

How are they going to find Tracy in time??

this can’t be good. how will DT get out of this mess!

They want more than DT’s death or he would already be dead! They want something more.

Franz the Butcher (this is Franz, isn’t it?)! “Mistress” (she still has not been called Stiletta in the strip) certainly has something not so simple as death in mind for Tracy, but what? And why? We shall see….

Okay it’s official, I now have an emotional attachment to a comic strip character. Read this and thought, “Ohhhhhh crap.” When Tracy goes under, he’ll be helpless. These folks could have ANYTHING in store. Mind control perhaps? Awww nuts.

If they simply wanted Tracy dead, he’d already be dead. It seems unlikely that their goal is to do surgery on Tracy since they couldn’t have known that he’d be in this condition when they planned to capture him. I suspect they’ll remove the bullet, get him healthy again, and then try to torture/kill him.

speculation abounds as to the motivation/intentions of stiletta jones and her henchmen hugo and franz. (yeh this is franz, hugo has the mustache). its obvious they dont want tracy dead.. yet. there has to be one of those “reveal scenes” where stiletta formally introduces herself to tracy and rattles off her diabolical plan… but that seems so far away at this point. IS tracy really as wounded as they are saying? DOES he need surgery? will it be RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY to make him look like flattop!?!?!? looks like we’re all going to have to wait on this one kids! this much suspense this early in the storyline is AMAZING! great job mike, and joe’s pencils remain a high point of the strip as well! excellent job team tracy!

If the wrist watches are sophisficated as they make them out to be, it would be so easy to find Dick Tracy, as soon as they found out its in the river trace back it movements. Hard to believe reporters wouldn’t have followed the ambulance all the way to the “hospital”.

Ooh … creepy. I love the way the setup has made perfectly ordinary dialog be menacing and threatening.

This is like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie – mystery woman whisks away the hero, to a fake hospital for — what???Yellow Cat’s right – the menace of what should be normal dialogue is great!

You know what they SHOULD do to prolong the torture? Amputate—end his heroics before they begin. Take his arms and his legs. Or maybe just paralyze him. In a week or so, his buddies are going to rescue him and the jig will be up.

Perhaps Tracy will become suspicious at the lack of “hospital sounds” around him after all the time he’s spent in and out of them. I would think he’d expect to be in an ER, which usually have simple curtained off areas and plenty of people going back & forth.

How in the world did this current crew of baddies know that Tracy would even NEED a hospital? It would certainly have taken a few days to set up a fake hospital room, and get it all ready. Even the Mission Impossible team needed time to prepare their elaborate hoaxes. Stilletta couldn’t possibly have known that Tracy would be shot, even if she did somehow know about the raid on Panda’s HQ.

I’m in the No Spoiler or Spoiler Alert camp. But…How could any regular DT reader not suspect, with the first appearance of “Mistress,” that she’s in the Flattop Family?

The device had better be waterproof as well as strong enough to send a signal from under the water(how deep os the river?)

Also, current in the river may move the device. If it is near the ocean and the river carries it into it, it might be rather difficult to recover it. Also, depending on the time involved, how long will the battery last?

actually, already knowing it’s Mrs. Flattop makes it more exciting for me…..because now I know he’s in deadly danger, rather than kidnapped by someone for perhaps other purposes…ransom or inside info or whatever…..and yes, the shooting was probably just a happy co-incidence for the hospital set-up…

Remember, they gave him a shot of something when they loaded him in the ambulance, so I don’t expect Tracy to notice the lack of paperwork, sounds, etc.

Geez, dya think tracy will survive? Next month the strip will be called Sam Catchem I guess. It’ll play out folk
