Been in a library lately, George? Around here there’s very little silence any more; even the librarians can be heard from one end to the other. Drives me nuts.

LASER is an acronym, as is RADAR, LIDAR, QUASAR, UNESCO, and so on. (A “word” in common usage consisting of initials). LMB is just an abbreviation.
