Gilligan’s Island worked because it had characters a person could relate to, and a cast big enough to support different comedic scenarios, and the guests that came and went. Same for Peanuts, and other strips. I hope Beutel will turn to whatever will inspire him and help him flesh out the stories. Otherwise the strip will get stale. What happened to everybody else in the world? How did these three wind up here? What were all those skeletons doing in the lagoon? Come on, Beutel, I’m rooting for you…
