Nancy: Sluggo's coming over to use our shower--- His well's run dry again.
Aunt Fritzi: Okay-- What are you drawing?
Nancy: Some-thing to cheer up Sluggo. It's a "GET A WELL SOON" card.
Thats one way to “Thank a veteran”. As far as Sluggo’s well going dry, I’d say that went dry a long time ago, bit I still get a laugh at him from time to time.
I would be honored to be thanked by Fritzi. Nowadays all the thanks I get is a flag sticker and 10 off at some places. Not on Cars, Travel or houses though.
Guy has kept the strip faithful to the original created by Ernie Bushmiller in the 1930s.Fritzi is not only sexy but is also sweet and caring and not self-centered. She may be drawn in two dimensions, but she is not “two-dimensional.” She is a whole person (a rarity in cartoons). The “boys” may comment on Fritzi’s physical attributes, but it is her other attributes that are truly endearing (something that most of us guys have difficulty admitting out loud).
Guy, I grew up with Nancy some 60 years ago and I appreciate how you have stayed true to Ernie Bushmiller’s vision while bringing the strip into the 21st century. That is not an easy thing to do. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Sluggo is a comedy engine. I enjoy the strips with him in them a lot.

Sorry Fritzi, not all vets want to be thanked. In Milford, we are still trying to figure Steve out: http://www.gocomics.com/gilthorp/2012/07/27

Fritzi’s T-shirts always commemorate someone or something. And they fit so well.

I just look at the strip to see if Fritzi is in it anymore

Susan, no. I never would. This is a family comic. I have always been a “family” artist.
