Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for July 15, 2012
Transcript:
Phoebe: If I asked you to, would you bring me the moon? Marigold: No. Phoebe: Why not? Marigold: Because it would not make you happy. Your room is too small. You would have nowhere to store it. Also, untold millions would perish. Phoebe: Okay, so just write "PHOEBE RULES" on it in giant letters.

Very nice strip but I thought we were in the middle of restoring Dakota’s hair – or is that not the moon but Dakota’s bald head up in the sky?

I LOVE this strip – Marigold reminds me so much of my mare, Amelia (Old English arabian). Especially in the last panel of yesterday’s strip: that is so her.Thank you Dana, these characters are the best ever.

Why would she want to go to the moon? Doesn’t she know there’s no air there? Or does she expect Marigold to provide that too?

That made me think of “it’s a wonderful life” then also “Despicable me” and then also “Bruce almighty”

Many strips have a Sunday that is nothing but last Tuesday through Saturday, plus next Monday, slightly rewritten and condensed. On the other hand, historically (I don’t know of any just now), the Sunday might even be about another character. For example, “Buz Sawyer” was about a pilot’s exotic adventures all over the world, but, once WW2 ended, the Sundays were always pure comedy about Roscoe Sweeney, Buz’s former tailgunner, on his orange farm in Florida. For all practical purposes, they were two different strips, though there were occasional crossovers. (Roscoe took over the daily strip for a while while Buz was on his honeymoon.) Or sometimes you’d have the same cast, but a substantially different premise, such as “Brick Bradford”, who was a two-fisted professional adventurer all seven days, but on Sunday (and not the rest of the week) his adventures involved a time machine.

Why stop with the moon? Go for the stars!
But Marigold is right. Still, giant letters would be pretty cool.

This is really pretty for a simple comic strip.
