also, I fail to see how a person who gets shipped into a foreign country to shoot up the countryside on behalf of another nation’s governmental and corporate interests qualifies as a hero. More of a pawn or drone. A hero is someone who helps another at great personal risk in spite of the fact that they are not obligated to do so. The doctor who gives up his lucrative medical practice in Beverly Hills to provide free health care to impoverished inner city single mothers is a hero. Guys blowing up wedding parties from Apache gunships is not.
I think people who make sweeping generalizations and crap on the people and system that provided the safety and freedom of expression that they enjoy are the opposite of heroes, but this is just a comic strip comment section and is not the proper place for that kind of discussion.
Bit of a somber strip today. Much easier to make fun of high school kids getting tattoos. But just for the record, notice how Neal and Rod took great care not to give Steve a left arm, even in the flashback.
Wieswald obviously wanted her 15 minutes of fame today, will she go after the 911 Firemen next? How about keeping this forum a place to discuss Gil and sports?
….not to quibble on the fine artwork today, but Steve’s vehicle looks more like a German WW2 “kubelwagen” than a modern HUMVEE….and, what was Steve doing on his laptop in a combat zone in P2?
Those of us old enough to know guys who left the country to avoid the draft understand what the sacrifices of an all volunteer force means. The empty “governmental and corporate interests” reproval discounts the history of America, doesn’t it? I guess Monday morning QB is what this site really is. Will Gil find his Tim Tebow is where the focus should be heading.

P1- Phantom of the Gil. P3- Horrifying crash. Doubt Milford HS will have anyone who can hit like a Mack truck this fall.

P3 contains some of the best artwork I’ve seen on this strip in quite some time.

Most impressive artwork detail? The US flag patch on the PFC’s shoulder is correct. The stars are always at the front, always moving forward.
