    This one has got me scratching my head. Can anybody tell me:(1) Is the joke a reference to the 2012 Olympics losing money?(2) Does “that thing” refer to the torch or the cauldron?(3) Since both are about to be burned up, why would anyone need to “be careful” with them?(4) The guy behind the rock in panel 1 appears to be a media commentator. So why does the runner hand him the torch?

    It’s a reference to Greece’s economic woes.

    Yes, it is a reference to Greece’s debt. And I think it’s funny.

    another reference is that the runner can keep the torch that they use…. if they pay for it.

    Probably had to get a loan for the fuel burning in that thing. Should have used coal.

    @BigChiefDesoto:

    As others mentioned, the 1984 Olympics MADE money. And, in fact, are still to this day funding local inner city programs with trusts set up from the proceeds derived from the Games’ revenues. Again, as mentioned, thanks to Uberroth’s fiscal conservatorship.

    I don’t think this would be funny, financial crisis in Greece. Definitely not for me, since I live there.But the strip is OK, so let things be told!
