Fact: The man is dressed as a mountain climber.

Fact: The flag indicates that he has reached the peak of Mt. Jobs (perhaps named so in honor of Steve).

    Fact: Mountains are big.

Conclusion: That is one huge-ass shovel.

Big government brought to you in part by War Bush and Nixon. Home land security and the DEA. Why bother spending money on other useful things when we can spy on Americans and take hippies to jail?

Roosevelt? Really? You are blaming WWII on Roosevelt?

I believe today is the anniversary of an event that had something to do with our entrance into that particular conflict.

The bottom dropped out last year. The new administration has almost filled in Bush’s big hole, so the new mountain can start accreting.

“The libs and enviro-nazis have over the last 40 years concentrated their efforts on stopping the great industrial machine through lawsuits, draconian and impossible regulation..thus sending most of it out of country. ”

The fact that workers in third countries could be hired for peanuts, and thanks to the world-open market there were fewer and fewer barriers, couldn’t have had anything to do with it, now, could it?

Anyway, work regulation and basic environmental safety worked quite well for most Americans. The 90’s showed they don’t necessarily mean poor economic performance, either.

Actually that front end loader is quite tiny compared to what’s out there. KInd of like the remaining U.S. job market after we’ve exported jobs for more profits to CEOs and those so frightened of paying any taxes.

My area has also seen a considerable increase in jobs due to “stimulus” public infrastructure projects that also benefit all of the folks whining that it isn’t working- ignorance is bliss for certain unteachable folks.

Blaming him? No! But there is much speculation about U S actions in South East Asia and inaction in Hawaii that led to this being an unfortunate anniversary.

Did any of you have the same problem over the weekend that I did? I was trying to view the cartoons, but, because of those bleeep dancing elfs, I ended up buying a dozen laptops from Office Max.

@Whatroughbreast Are you serious? The U.S. didn’t want to go to war until other nations gave us a reason to join in. Lindon B. Johnson wanted to end his war by dealing with the South Vietnamese but Nixon continued the war by promising them a better deal after he was president. So essentially the republican party killed more Americans overseas.

@d_legendary1 I was talking about the oil embargo of the Japanese in south east asia, but I was part of Johnson’s build up pal so don’t talk out of your ass. I was one of those shouting “Dick Nixon, before he dicks you” but be honest. It was the Tonkin Gulf lie that got us into the war in the first place. Take away the 20,000 that they estimate Nixon caused and you still have 38,000 (almost double) attributable to Johnson.

av8tor says “This nation’s wealth was attained through industry not shovel ready govt jobs.” I say this nation’s near-Depression was attained through deregulated industry.

^And thankfully, Americans weren’t too hinky with commies then either…commies were a kind of a cult back then; they had to be careful…
