There are differences on big doctrinal questions. But like political parties, denominations drift over time. E.g., whereas Episcopal was once closer to Catholic, now they are essentially Unitarian.
I cling to nondenominational churches, although I was raised a Baptist. We worship God in spirit and in truth. It’s not where you worship Him but HOW you worship him. John 4:24
Methodists trace their roots to the Church of England and are therefore a connectional church with districts, bishops, etc. Presbyterians trace their roots to Calvin. They are more loosely connected. This makes a difference most particularly in how they select local pastors and how they local churches relate to the larger church. So there.
