I am a little curious as to why there are spare biosuits if Topsiders can never take them off. Maybe in case any of the children topsiders grow too large for their biosuits, and have to switch to an adult size?
Well, it’s Petey alright. One question I have though is where did “Blackie” come from then if the suits never came off. I always assumed it was the hair. Perhaps we are about to find out….;-)
Yeah, this would have gotten her in dutch with the authorities alright. Now we know why they considered her untrustworthy. All things considered, it’s not a bad thing to be under the circumstances…;-)

Announcing the next Endtown Auction Block auction! You may have noticed that Aaron hasn’t been so visible lately – that’s because he’s busy getting ready for the Baltimore Comic Con this weekend. So, he’s asked me to prep this week’s auction. We’ve got two great offerings this time (I know, they’re always great; well, these are two of the greater ones) – a dapper-looking Mallard, and Sparkplug Sanders facing the onslaught of WW III. Please be generous – your bids help keep Endtown running.
Here I sit absent minded, looking for comments that can’t be finded. Lost in a muse of sleeping pills and fresh baked banana bread. My questions have been asked again. We need a clothing clearification .Blessed Be
They may not have known each other before. I get the impression that, with how severe and bleak the world is, any extension of kindness could quickly develop into a relationship. Flask’s kindness towards Petey (or whatever his name is before he becomes Petey), may have sparked Petey into wanting her to stay with him for companionship. Who knows what his life may have been like even before he was captured. And his extension of need, friendship or kindness towards Flask may have been the first of its kind she’s seen since The End. It could be a mix of loneliness and gratefulness to have found a kindred spirit in each other?
You’re right; I would love to see a Petey flashback like we did we with Sam, maybe learn what he was like! Maybe he and Flask knew each other but he was found to be immune, so many un-answered questions!
She “never agreed” with the classification. I wonder what opportunities there are for dissenting opinions in the topsider world. And she is falling in love with him, in a way she has never fallen in love with a man before. What’s the special chemistry this time? Is it the first time she has ever done something altruistic? Has she been so buried in her work as a rocket scientist? Did she forget to have children?I wonder if the Topsiders have animals, by the way.
Just a quick tip on voting: if you vote with a smartphone over 3G or 4G (not wifi), after you’ve voted switch the phone into “airplane mode”. This will disconnect your phone from the cell network. Then switch airplane mode off. Your phone will reconnect to the network and when it does it will grab a new network address. You can then vote again. Do this as many times as you like to keep the vote numbers up.
Cheating? I suppose, but no more so than the other comics that offer voting “incentives”…
They only have to carry the swords around until the Star Trek reruns start on cable, giving them a chance to brush up on their Klingon-speaking skills.
BTW, Endtowners, 2.0 is still in the Top 10 (along with the good Doc) in the WebComics poll while 1.0 is at 17, which is pretty remarkable for a strip that hasn’t had a new entry for a long, long time. Keep voting…we’re only three days into September.
It is a reference to her dark side. One who has lived that way for a long time sees things in a different light. Rank does have its perks but also carries a terrific load. You cannot bear that weight without it changing you. She speaks of suicide as easy to do referencing others. She mercy kills taking responsibility feeling she has done the right thing but feeling the pain of killing. She is phony tough. After awhile all breakdown. She has reached that point. Now she finally has a choice. Arron is doing a good job. Just listen.
It’s pretty obvious it was a breach, butit could not have been intentional. Mutation, as we have seen numerous times, is practically instantaneous. If she intentionally breached her suit, she would mutate while concious and become a monster. It had to be while she was unconcious, and therefore unintentional. We know she didn’t want to change, and finding a relationship with “Petey” might have changed her mind (at least temporarily) about suicide. How about this:They spend the night in the ruins. Something (details left to the imagination) happens in the night that breaches her suit, and she wakes up with two dangly pinkeys. Horrified by the change, and believing herself unloveable now, she speeds off to parts unknown in the PT, leaving “Petey” behind.
I’ll have to go back and look at earlier stories, but I presently don’t remember Flask ever having a tail, like a lynx or manx cat doesn’t have a tail.
Imagine you are stuck in a lonely hell of your people’s own making, and surrounded by others that are not only in the same hell, but are determined to take as many souls as possible with them. Then imagine you see someone who, miraculously, is not of this hell, but is somehow above or immune to it. The first “real” person, and real face, you are able to connect with. Her soul rebels at the thought of this being’s torment. At first there is pity. Then there is love.

The nickname ‘Blackie’ could be to do with the image Flask has already said the bio-suits display.

I bet it’s because when she mutates, it’s into a big, black cat.

Or maybe Blackie is a reference to those ultra-dark eyepieces.

yes, but I still have issues with her just killing mutants willy-nilly when she was in Endtown—not cool in my opinion……
