My father was an electrician who worked on the park, so I got to go there along with all the other worker’s families the day before it opened. My grandmother made them stop the roller coaster to let me off, but I do remember enjoying the teacup ride and the merry-go-round.
Thanks Saucy! I’ll remember that! I’m so glad you took your Mom! :-) Had we been able to afford it then, we would have, but my parents did so much for me and us, that I just couldn’t do what I considered was taking advantage of her. In retrospect, 20/20 hindsight, I would have JUMPED AT IT! You know, “too soon old, too late smart”!
As a kid, both sets of grandparents lived in SoCal, so we’d go there every Christmas, and one day out of that vacation would always be a stop at Disneyland. Going to Disneyland was, without a doubt, the highlight of my childhood. Going back to Disneyland or Disney World as an adult isn’t quite the same, but I still find it to be a magical place. If you go on a crowded day, it’s hard to deal with the lines, but it’s still an otherworldly experience that no other amusement park has managed or bothered to replicate. Even though I’m not a fan of SoCal and loathe Florida, if a trip to one of those places included a stop at Disney, all of my objections to the trip would evaporate.

Take Bear to the Country Bear Jamboree, Uncle Walter. He can find some friends there!

I love the big bear’s tiny little paws. They seem to be almost useless, but he has those big claws to make up for it. I love this ’toon.

I think that’s the first time I’ve EVER seen Molly look irritated with Bear. Usually she has patience of Job. =)
