In the earlier strips, Violet had an actual ponytail instead of a bun. She also hung out with Patty (not Peppermint Patty). It was also mentioned that they were a grade above CB & Lucy.
Well, I don’t seem to know how to copy and paste, so be sure to check out yesterday’s (Sunday) FRAZZ strip. Classic What I Did This Summer from Caufield, Charles Schultz would have been proud.
There’s actually something specifically distinct about Lucy and Linus: they have half-circles around the the outsides of their eyes. They (and Rerun) are the only characters who have this “physical” trait. Take a look at Violet’s eyes, then at Lucy’s; you’ll notice.
(Wanted to add: sometimes Schulz drew dramatic half circles around other characters’ eyes for certain expressions, like concern. But the Van Pelts were the only ones who always had the casual half circles.)
@DP That’s why I could never be a teacher. You wade through a class full of dullards who don’t want to engage their brains to think about interesting questions hoping for one or two who might actually think. Clearly, anyone who wonders anything deeper than “Ginger or Mary Anne” is on narcotics. sigh On the subject of this strip, it’s interesting that we see Charlie Brown sabotaging his own life rather than just being victim of fate.
Short drive. I uttered those two words, together at the same time, just once in my life. Inadvertantly and as an automatic response. To my mom. And she heard me. Grounded for 3 days . . . no soccer or basketball. Dinner, homework, bed.
I do not like Violet that much either, and comparing her to Lucy, there is not that much of a difference, they are basically the same girls, just look different and have different names. To Charlie Brown, Charlie, if you just do your homework, maybe you would not be complaining. You are so wishy-washy Charlie, do not be a blockhead, and stop feeling sorry for yourself already.
I just need to ask, if Charlie had a cat, do you think he would be an entirely different person? I think so, but it depends on what sort of cat, I guess.
Charlie Brown could probably find many things he did during the summer. Didn’t he go to camp? He shouldn’t hang around Violet. She’s mean as a snake. She makes Lucy to seem like an angel.
Violet and Patty both tormented CB before Schulz gave that voice to Lucy. While Violet is generally cruel to CB, Lucy’s judgements are much more personal.
Well, I always finish my work or 95% of it in the so-called “Study Period”, anyway this same storyline was in “It was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown” where the same thing happened which I watched.

I used to think Violet was Lucy. Lol

Violet is also a little taller than Lucy, generally.

And there is no way Lucy would have finished HER report during study period. :-)

It must have been very confusing when they appeared in the same frame together…

Teachers just assume your family has the time & the money to do something interesting over the summer. But not everybody dose.
