They are very similar but not exact. Look at the grass. Snoopy’s shadow in panel two starts further right then in panel four. The motion lines under Snoopy’s feet and around his ears are different. And of course there is the Schultz signature.
Actually, I’d like to have seen him try it with Lucy — you never know what might actually snap her out of that bad mood she’s in, and the shock just might do it!
Also, as fast as Schulz could draw, I bet xeroxing would actually take longer just in getting up from the table, trimming the paper, altering the lettering, gluing, etc., so it’s not much of a shortcut. It’s actually a better way of achieving the effect of the gag.
The area around Snoopy’s ears is different. The first one shows motion, the second one doesn’t. Snoopy is a very smart dog and knows better than to mess with Lucy
I read a Peanuts strip once from one of my comic paperback. Snoopy and Lucy actually did do a dance together. If I remember right, Lucy curtsied afterward and Snoopy bowed. Then Snoopy went back to his doghouse uttering: “That was some dance. She’s a ball of fire. Too bad she’s not a dog.” Anyone else remember it? :)
And the wording is different. And the movement lines on Snoopy have changed, the grass is shorter and his tails and ears are different. Other than that, they are identical.
P2 and P4 are not the same, not that i would have a problem with the strip if they were – Berkeley Breathed did it all the time in Bloom County and that’s fine with me.

The second and last panel are exactly the same, except for the speech bubbles.

Is this Peanuts or Slylock Fox’s ‘spot the 6 differences’?Schulz would’ve never taken shortcuts like photocopying.

Considering that’s what he did at Christmas when she got him lip-syncing her rant.

No — look at the lettering. They were obviously done individually: for example, THE is directly below AND in panel 4 but not panel 2.
