“Yes, the Brazilian judge has been a bit critical of Horace’s performance, but lets look at a replay and see where he lost points.
In panel 1, Horace’s approach is good; his elbows are high and the line up to the rock is perfect, yet his “Famous Last Words” contains an error. He replaced the preposition “In” with “With”. Just this infraction alone doomed Horace from a perfect score.
In panel 2, the follow through is nearly ideal – chest and chin making simultaneous contact and both hands fully tucked back together at the required 60 degrees. Horace’s concentration was fully focused on his upper body, and we see because of that, he neglected to keep his left foot parallel with his right. This is easily a loss of one point and we can only imagine that the El Salvadorean Judge, an ex-Olympic Tripper himself, was sympathetic to Horace’s performance, for he too made the same mistake in the 1982 Games.
In panel 3, Horace’s fully prone form is outstanding and the epitome of Olympic excellence. The erect tail is a sign that though unconscious, Horace is still giving his all. He has achieved the required 2 bells and 4 stars, and in an Olympic first, the stars are orange! This creativity has pleased the judges, but unfortunately as typical to an amateur’s performance, the bells and stars are not circling Horace’s head. Again, he’s penalized for lacking focus; a common occurrence in these Olympic Games.
In all, the combined score of 3.56 puts Horace to 8th in the standings, and it is very unlikely he will be bringing Gold home to Finland."

Sometimes it is soooo worth reading the comments. This of course is one of those times. (Not my comment, of course. Heima’s.)
