You’re probably right. “The Man” is of course, Douglas Dillman, first black President of the United States (at least in Irving Wallace’s novel and from what I hear, a terrible movie based on it.)

Since I’m usually one of the last posters on GoComics it’s always a riot to read the quibbling between posters. Come up with a good joke or pun being last, now that’s a challenge, and fun.Like maybe a reference to Easy Rider, where they chant, “The man is at the window” when a cop was looking at them. Da Man.

About a month ago Kimby the koala kept saying “first comment” even though other people had already commented. Kimby later said it had been a practical joke all along. : )

THE MAN usually meant the police……in a context of police “being evil” like the storm troopers in the Star Wars trilogy….you know, employed for the mission of trampling all free will among the “subject” peoples.

In NatesWorld, I frankly found the term backdated……but hey…..that’s like sometimes letting your “groovy!!” or “far out!!” occasionally slip!! Har! HAR!!
