The mainframe computer at school had two switches that were purely for decoration (they weren’t connected to anything). We told visitors that they controlled the elephant horns. Then we would demonstrate: Turn the switches on and instruct the visitor to look out the window. “Do you see any elephants? Good. That proves that the elephnat horns are working — they keep all the elephants away.”The amazing thing is that some people seemed to take it seriously.
