In this context, it doesn’t matter how they are related. Fritzi functions as Nancy’s mother. After all these years, she probably got tired of explaining.

It almost looks like Fritzi’s outfit is a super hero costume of some sort. Reds, blues, and a big belt buckle.

An explaination would have taken a frame away from Mr. Gilchrist’s superb “Nancy as a Fish” artwork. Most people will assume a mother-daughter relationship in that situation.

I love Fritzi’s purple tank top but it shows too much cleavage. When I went swimming as a child, I’d pretend to be a dolphin or whale.

Nancy – better get out! Some years back, a lady ignored the warning, and nobody realized she was still in the pool when they opened the valve to drain the pool!Luckily, she survived going out the drain!(Quincy, Illinois apx 1950)
