Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for August 22, 2012
August 21, 2012
August 23, 2012
Transcript:
Dad: Look at the moon rising. Mom: Ooh. Alice: It looks like that stomach-looking thing on the beach Daddy stepped on by accident. Petey: And it squelched! Ha ha! That was great!
I am really going to miss cul de sac! I wish you could get better, and not just because of the strip. Last week I had a friend die, and another friend is moving to another state, and now weI will loose Alice and Petey!
Richard, I’m so sorry to hear about your illness. Thank you for all the great cartoons you’ve cheered our days with. May God give you strength and comfort.
So going to miss this. Anyone have any suggestions as to other comics that will consistently make me smile? Thank you so much Richard for so many good comic memories!
I wasn’t aware that Richard was dealing with Parkinson’s… I’m very sorry to hear that. As an artist myself I know it must be hard not to do something you love. I have really grown to love this strip and the way you draw and put it together. Well wishes be with you going forward!! Your work will be missed
I so adore this comic strip and am sad to learn of Richard’s retirement. I cannot imagine my day without this gorgeous artwork and the Otterloop family.
Richard, many a day I have seen myself in the “Cul de Sac” story line… what a delight it has been to recapture the joy of being both Mom and a 4 year old, again~
Thank you from the bottom of my ageless heart <3Take gentle care and never, ever give up~!

Madeline and Peter seem dumbstruck by their kids’ comments. They should be used to the oddness by now!

I bet it was a washed up jelly fish. those things can be beautiful in water, but hideous when dead on the beach.
