    Donna lacks perspective. Doping aside, most athletes train their whole lives for a career that might last a year or less. The careers of a financial analyst or a newspaper columnist, Donna and Mona’s respective careers, can span decades. At 30 both are also considered very young in those fields.

    My female friend had this same thought the other day. The athletes are fitter, younger, and better. Don’t worry about it – they’re among the world’s best. Not many people are as good as they are – that’s why they are in the Olympics! It’s just no use to compare.

    Given that Chinese swimmer who spontaneously knocked five seconds off her best time and still tested negative for the expected Western drugs, you do wonder what traditional Chinese medicine might have to offer that mimics the effects of banned things like steroids, but will not show up on the tests used as its chemical basis might be entirely different… jsut a thought there…
